Marvell develops semiconductor technology used in data centers and networking. SanDisk focuses on flash memory and storage products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These companies are connected to the same broad trend, but they do not have identical businesses. Their customers, products, competition, and financial results can be very different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Understanding those differences matters because investors sometimes group many companies together simply because they are associated with AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the AI Boom Through Stock Charts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The market’s enthusiasm for AI became especially visible in the stock prices of semiconductor companies during May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looking at the charts for Nvidia, Marvell, TSMC, and SanDisk reveals an interesting pattern. All four companies were connected to the expanding demand for computing infrastructure, but their stock prices did not peak on the same day or move in exactly the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nvidia’s stock reached an intraday high of $236.54 on May 14. Marvell reached an intraday high of $182.14 on May 15. TSMC’s US listed shares reached $421.97 on May 14. SanDisk had already reached an intraday high of $1,564 on May 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These are intraday highs, meaning the highest prices traded during those sessions. They are not necessarily the closing prices, and a local high during this period should not automatically be described as an all time record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The dates are important because they show that even companies connected to the same trend can follow different paths. Investors may react to company specific news, earnings expectations, and changes in demand at different times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For a consistent comparison, I would set each chart to the same period, from April 1 through May 15, 2026. That lets readers see the recovery from the April market weakness and the subsequent rise in semiconductor stocks. The charts should be checked against the historical data before publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next question is whether growing demand for AI automatically makes these companies good investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I do not think the answer is that simple. A company can sell an important product and still have a stock price that is difficult to justify. Investors buy stocks based not only on what a company earns today, but also on what they expect it to earn in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If investors expect AI spending to grow rapidly for years, they may already be paying a high price for that expected growth. If a company later reports strong earnings but its results are not as impressive as investors expected, the stock could still fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This helped me understand why a good company and a good investment are not always the same thing. The business matters, but the price paid for it matters too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A stock reaching a new high also does not prove that it is overvalued. It simply means buyers were willing to pay more at that moment. To understand whether the price makes sense, investors need to look at earnings, future growth, competition, and valuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another question I started thinking about is diversification. Owning several different stocks might seem safer than owning just one. But what if all those companies depend, in different ways, on the same trend?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nvidia, Marvell, TSMC, and SanDisk have different businesses and risks. Still, if investors suddenly become less optimistic about AI spending, several semiconductor stocks could fall at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This does not mean that owning multiple semiconductor companies is necessarily a bad idea. It means that the number of stocks in a portfolio does not tell the whole story. Investors also need to consider how those businesses are connected and what could cause them to struggle together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A portfolio can contain several companies and still be heavily exposed to one major industry trend.
