Hi, I’m Haydn. I started this blog with a little help from my dad. It began with a question I asked at dinner:
“What is SPY, and why are you always talking about it?”
My dad smiled and said, “It’s an ETF that tracks the S&P 500.”
That didn’t help much. I had no idea what an ETF was or what the S&P 500 even meant.
But that was the moment I realized there’s a whole world behind these words.
Instead of just explaining everything to me, my dad said,
“Why don’t you write down what you learn each week? That’s the best way to remember.”
That’s how Student Investors was born.
I’m still a student, and I don’t know everything (yet), but I’m excited to learn how money works, how investing works, and how I can grow smarter one post at a time.
This blog is for:
- Curious students like me who want to understand how the stock market works
- Anyone who’s ever asked, “How do I start investing?”
- People who learn best by writing, experimenting, and thinking out loud
If that’s you, welcome. Let’s learn together.
And next week, I’m going to figure out what a stock actually is before I even try to understand what an ETF is.
What I Learned
Writing about what I learn helps me remember and go deeper next time.
“SPY” is not just a random word. It’s something called an ETF (which I’ll learn more about later).
Asking questions is the best way to start learning.
